hi guys, I read about securing keystrokes so that hackers can;t see what you type on the KB. How does one do that on an ibOOK?

Make a group containing the people you want to have access to the documents, then set the group folder to mount/dock automatically for users of this group. Then transfer the contents you want to share into this new shared folder.
That way you can keep personal documents private and share those documents you need to. Also if it's a work network you can add and remove users from the group as you need to, and they will be granted/denied access automatically.
As an example, both my partner and myself are on a charitable trust committee, so at home we have a family group which contains all the information for us both to access.
Hope this helps.

Stick with XP for the Windows version. It was enough of a pain to get it to run under Vista.
Otherwise, I only do GPU folding. 10,000 ppd is hard to beat.

recently, I've noticed that my 2009 MacBook draws a lot of battery power when it's in standby mode (sleeping with the lid open). I know that they are supposed to sleep for a long time, but when I leave the lid open and it falls asleep, the computer draws battery power even faster than if the computer was being used. Does anyone know what may cause this rapid battery drain?
Thanks
You can try reseting the PMU.

Wow, so we're seeing a Ninja Gaiden game because "they chose to go with the Nintendo DS over the PSP specifically because of the stylus". Cool as. I really enjoyed the difficulty of Ninja Gaiden, from all systems I suppose! Picked it up for the NES not so long ago and the Xbox version. Sounds like something to look forward to.

Try manually mounting your time machine backup. It is stored on your backup disk as a *.sparsebundle file. Execute the following command to access it :
sudo hdiutil attach <time_machine_file.sparsebundle>
sudo hdiutil attach <time_machine_file.sparsebundle>

As I have said before I will buy a powerbook in september just before I go to university. I wanted to buy an ipod as well. However I just couldn't wait!
Because the new ipod can be used on both a mac and a pc depending on how it has been formatted, I decided at the spare of the moment to order one, this was partly due to the fact that my creative muvo 64mb broke down.
Will the ipod be better than the creative muvo? (please don't answer this question It was a joke):p
Well after some time ( I ordered it on the 29/6/03 ( 6/29/03 - for my american friends). I couldn't believe I ordered it, I am going to be in serious debt by the end of this month lol.:D
When I get my powerbook how easy is it to reformat it to work on the mac?
I will keep you updated.

I'm also in the market for a new camcorder.
My budget is $1,000 before tax. I have been looking at the new Sony 560v, which is about 1,000 depending on the store. 5.1 and seems to have good low light ability with good golf and sport video. Which is what I film, so it sounds good on paper.
Looking for these other options:
1080p
Internal and external flash cards (if I need to add more cards).
Most important FCP use and iMovie would be nice for quick stuff.
Optional light adapter
Speed shooting, like I said good for sports, hockey and football also.
Good battery life.
I know I'm leaving out a few things...
Can anyone outside of consumer reports tell me if 5.1 on these priced cameras actually work well? In the past all my consumer cameras were simply 2 channel, always loved 5.1 from my laser disc days so it would be great if it actually worked well.
Thanks for any info.

Wait til expo and it might change your mind.
If you do not like the new offerings, you can get a discontinued models of the ones you listed at a very good price, $200 - $500 off I think.

Will this software be available for other Macs as well?
Like can I use the Remote Drive feature on my Mac Book Pro?
Or will this feature just be for Mac Book Air?
And how do they connect to your other computers? WiFi?

Vueslide is a really simple, small program that just runs through the images in the folder and can be run from autorun.inf. It's really simple for putting on optical media...

Try this: (courtesy of Yahoo Answers lol)
Open AirPort Utility and click on Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the icons to name your Time Capsule, establish a device password (write this down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network. Hold down the option key on your Mac if you don't see this choice.
Wireless Network Name...the name of the available wireless network should appear as a choice to join if the Time Capsule is receiving a good signal at its current location. Click the select it or type in the name of the network
Wireless Security = <whatever your network is using>
Click Update at the lower right and the Time Capsule will restart in 20-25 seconds. If you get the green light, you should be all set.

Entry Consumer Desktop (under $1300 USD):
I would have to say the emac 700 with the combo drive. You get a 17" monitor, a G4 and it is just over $1000 dollars.
I would like to see this model kept to replace the classic imac for perhaps...$899 after the next revision???
Consumer Desktop ($1300++ USD):
If I wanted the best system for the least money then the emac 800 SD would be my pick.
I think that the best value for the money and what you get is the 17" imac SD however. You get so much for the $500 more: a great FP widescreen monitor; a better designed computer; better videocard; more HD space...
Consumer Laptop:
12" 600mhz; 12" 700 mhz or 14" 700 mhz
My pick is the 12" 700mhz with the combo drive. I think that it is a better put together machine than the 14" and has a little more power to be worth more than the 600mhz of the 12". I don't think the 14" is worth the extra $$. It may be if it lets say had a 800mhz G3...something to differentiate it!
I am curious to see how Apple will update the form factor when they do!
Pro Laptop:
667mhz or 800mhz Powerbook
Tough call...depends on how much one wants to spend...I'll say the 800 simply for the reason that if you spend the kind of money the PBs cost you should get one that is better in every way than the consumer laptops (especially speed)
Pro Desktop:
dual 867 mhz; dual 1 ghz or dual 1.25 ghz; maybe even 17" imac SD
I like the dual 867 mhz model...simply because these seem to be stop-gap models and I think that you get an excellent machine for $1699 compared with the 733 G4 and 800 G4 (the past entry level models). Why pay the big $$ when you get a great dual for $1699.
and what the heck:
ipod 20GB for $499- $100 more than the original for 4x the space + case and wired remote = great deal!

Now I know who you are talking about. His announcing style definitely is a classic. Though he is not the guy I was thinking of. The guy I was thinking of I have heard more recently in theaters and has that extremely deep voice that would put Barry White to shame.

Congratulations!
I'm sure you'll be more than pleased with that machine.
I completely understand about the mouse. When I was getting my blue and white G3, I picked up a three button scroll mouse because I wasn't going to use the puck mouse.
I agree with you on WinXP. I used it and it is worthy of attention but unfortunately, it takes too much attention. It always seems to be helping you by making decisions that you may not want. Mac OS X, while not anywhere near complete, is just there to do whatever you need done.

I'm not sure if my topic makes sense, but is there anyway to run parallels without having to reinstall everything again? I have bootcamp setup so is there anyway to run this partition hard drive in parallels?
Does this even make sense?
