I am not an expert in starting a poll - But I think it will help to take a headcount for /year PD basis.
Esp. 2002,2003,2004,2005,Until June1,2006 cases. Proportion of which could serve as some kind of estimate - Can be cross checked with for sanity.

Once the dollar touches that low, expect huge salary cuts across the board for the employess of these companies.
I wish they invested in R and D and innovation and products instead of services. Service industry is mainly governed by dealing with cost efficient labor. These companies reach out to IITs IIMs get the best and brightest and dump them into the service sector and start earning on them.
If they changed their business modal and started investing in products and Rand D, it may not give them quick money, but the results will be beneficial on the long run.

Guys, let us not get carried away. The Immigration and Nationality Act clearly says that the Attorney General shall give Employment Authorization to people with pending Adjustment of Status. It is just the duration of the EAD that is left with the discretion of USCIS.
People keep throwing around the phrase "Administrative solution". In this country, just about everything is codified by law. Some things, like the EAD duration, can be tackled Administratively. However, USCIS isn't going to give up a cash cow, viz. the fees from yearly EAD renewals, easily. It is a lot easier to have Congress mandate three year EAD extensions than to convince USCIS to do it.
I guess the argument that BKarnik is trying to make is that USCIS should be administratively mandated to give Employment Authorizations to people with approved immigrant petitions. However, in the last few months, I have been looking at INA on a regular basis. Most immigration practices are codified in INA, and I would be really hesitant to even ask for an administrative fiat to this effect. Remember, an anti-immigrationist can equally easily have it removed. When Congress passes something, however, it has the force of law.

1. The company is a Manufacturing company.
2. They have 17,000 employees.
3. Yes. Salary has changed but not significantly.
I dont see any issues here, but if you are still not sure and your date is current, see if you can request a promotion date that can be effective after your case has been adjudicated.
It will take some explaining but might be worth it..

I think I have joined IV in last 3 years or so...
Donated money once & have called congressmen & senators many times ...
Could someone please tell me -
What has been achieved by IV till date? I know we all meet elected reps, officials in washington dc ..... but I am interested in end result like not wasting visa numbers , implementing spillover & along these lines.
I have asked few friends to join IV but then if they ask me for IV accomplishments - i can't count any....

I would like to say that dont count what IV has achieved but try to consider the situation "If there was no organization like IV around". Right now even if you have some issues (minor or major) you could communicate with like minded people in one place and hopefully get solutions. If you are a continued donor then IV even helps to solve some of the issues?
There are lot of benefits in being organized and whether you donate or not it is well in our interest that this survives and stays strong. What is a new opportunity arises, immediately we have a platform to jump in, right? without IV existing that would be difficult to organize and arrange at short notice.

Was this is a change in the procedures of USCIS? If yes, could we not request them to increase the length of the EAD from 1 to 5 years? This will help many of us too. I need to get my DL renewed every year along with the EAD.

Now they both have 3k visas in a given year . if USCIS process ( Pre adjucted ) 40k Eb2 india cases and 4k Eb3 india and bring to DOS , DOS may think there are 10 time more cases in Eb2 india so it can take decades while Eb3 india has only 1k extra so it can be in a year. but reality is different.

I don�t think he will have any standing against you in court of law. If you have ur documentation strong then nothing to worry. He is just trying to give you hard time. Even if he does so take him to all levels, I am sure at the end of day you will not loose anything but he may get burned by this. File all claims like harrasment; Unethical practices to run business and more if attorney suggested doing so.Just be strong and cool ......

Things like legislative changes take time. We may think that the debate on illegal immigration has nothing to do with our issues but the corrupt Senators will always try to sneak in some reform related to illegal immigrants into our bills in exchange for their votes, ultimately derailing the entire bill.
We sincerely need to work with the law makers--the guys in the immigation committees, in particular. Please, desist using 'corrupt' senators. Debates in democracy are always healthy. We must emphasise our points, gather support from aila our employers and beneficiaries and respect a system.

i think gc_maine2 has a valid question...especially if you use H1 transfer (6-9 years) for the new employer and not EAD

Person X has completed 180 days after 485 filing, used is 6 yrs of H1 and now he got a 3 yrs of H1B from the same employer. If this person uses AC21 & EAD and joins another company and after 1 yr his 485 is rejected for wrong reasons, will this person be out of status(since used EAD) or will be in status since his H1b is still valid with the old employer (Assumed the employer has not revoked). Will it be safe to come back to the same employer.

I have one week from now for his visit. He gave me his desk number too. So I guess he is still an ICE employee. I did not call him at that number though.

What do you say about your problem when you take InfoPass. You can't take an appointment to just ask what is happening to your case, unless several months have passed after all sorts of dates.
I dont belive it when ppl take silly suggestions seriously. We should know better having been in this mess for years now...
