Agreed, there were aftermarket front and back plates for sale since last year so you could convert your black iP4 to a white one, the picture must be of one of those modified white iPhones.

From memory Snow Leopard Samba runs a modified version of 3.0 Samba, however versions 3.3 and 3.4 of Samba Windows 7 *can* authenticate against(+). If the version of Samba in Lion is 3.3 or higher then it might be possible to get Windows 7 computers to authenticate against OSX Lion server...
(+) Although a registry patch is required on the Win7 machines to enable certain legacy support.
I beleive the command is "smbd -V" in terminal on the server if someone feels like trying it...

I didn't say it was wholly genetic, nor do the authors of the book to which I linked. However, to accept without question that we inherit a myriad of traits from our parents (hair color, eye color, height, predisposition to certain diseases, the list goes on) but discount intelligence from that group is foolish in the extreme.
Of course intelligence has a genetic element, and not everyone is equal. However, your intellectual potential may be limited by your genes but you need the correct environment to achieve that potential.
Is it that certain races have a lower intelligence? Or is it that certain races don't get the opportunity to achieve their potential due to their environment?
The problem with IQ tests is they depend on culture and education, they are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I bet an IQ test of 10 year olds in down-town Bagdad would yield lower results to a test in a the suburbs of a US or European city. Clearly this is an extreme example, but it is hard to get a level playing field to assess intelligence in different people.

Good point. There is a little article in the April Car and Driver that lists all of the cars assembled in North America and their actual domestic parts content. Some of it is pretty shocking. Sorry, I don't think they have it online, but if somebody really wants it, I can scan it.
As an example, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are both 80% U.S./Canadian parts content. The Chevrolet Silverado pickup? ...61%. :eek:

Apple needs to be very vigorous in defending the iPod TM. Not sure if anyone else caught it but with the updated iPod line CNN ran a story. In it the woman stated that Apple currently controls "70% of the iPod market." Unless the rebranded HP models are selling like hotcakes sounds like a generic use of the term to me.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beta. I pre-ordered from gamestop about 3 weeks ago, and went to get my key Thursday of last week.
Guy told me the last day to pick up a Beta key was wednesday. Missed it by one day! WTF.

Apparently you don't understand just how more TVs are sold to people without iDevices. Yes, the iDevice crowd is thick here, but here is not everywhere TVs are sold. Many of our iDevice owners around the world are still awaiting the ability to rent ANY video via iTunes, much less to be able to rent it and then sling it to an airplay-enabled TV.

The current guideline is to post links to external sources, and then slowly merge that data into the MacGuides. A good example right now is the PowerMacG4 page, which has some links to user-created pages and some links to external pages.

Not everyone in the Netherlands and Germany is happy with it, but T-Mobile has been our exclusive provider of the iPhone 3G and 3GS since their launch and there is no end in sight for us. It would however be very easy and logical for Apple to choose to use T-Mobile in the US, not only because no hardware modification is necessary (I noticed myself last week in Boston that my European iPhone 3G 16GB defaulted to the T-Mobile network or alternatively AT&T when there was no coverage), and it would be a matter of adding an additional country to an existing contract with a company you are already dealing with as opposed to starting from scratch. You Americans may not like it but it is the most logical move for Apple even if it's not the preferred one.

That's enough reason for me not to buy it. I have NEVER met anyone who is completely happy with the user experience of the office package.

I agree with the crop. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it or do it before. I remember feeling the same way but then ignoring myself. :)
This is a "quick and dirty" crop using the crop tools in flickr. I would like more room on the right for the table. This is cropped to the edge of the empty chair, so to do a bit more room I'll have to erase the part of the chair that shows. I may try that when I have more time.

You may have some room to bring the top and right in a little tighter to match the bottom and left crop.

Ok so maybe off track but how much longer can the Darwin/Mach underpinings of both OS X and iOS last?
How long till we get to a much better way of doing the lowest level of stuff that Apple starts transitioning the OS to a new kernal. Reading the wiki page for the Mach kernal it would seem many of Mach functions are either duplicated or at least extracted in to newer OS features like grand central. Plus they've put alot of investment in to the LLVM compiler chain.
I guess I'm wondering if "the Future of iOS and OS X" doesn't involve Mach? Lion/5 being the last in that line. With Apple taking the WWDC to discuss what's coming after these two as much as what's in these two. You'd imagine that transition would be a two year public plan to make sure developers are getting themselves ready and it seems like Lion/5 will be in reasonable shape for those that need to delay a the transition for their own work reasons.
Makes it sound like Apple will keep the two brandings to distinguish the two user experiences.

And that's most of what there is to it. The only novel stuff is in the way Bonjour is used for this, and that was easily reverse engineered, which is how you now have software like AirPlayer (for OS X) and AirViewer (for iOS) which act as Apple TV-like AirPlay displays.

remember though, you can't use the gpu's in OS X, only in windows right now. so the only way to use both gpu and cpu at the same time is in windows, unless you are good in linux, i've heard people getting it to work

Ok still having log in issues removed Bite SMS reinstalled rebooted still having issues thankfully i still having synced my iPhone to my computer yet.
