Well, it is pretty not functional in this early release.
There is a new app called "Server" which seems to be similar to the current "Server Preferences." I always find Server Preferences to be a joke.
Server Admin is still their, but all the Services that "Server" covers are not in Server Admin. Thankfully NetBoot and SUS are still in place as is DNS. What they may be doing is using "Server" for the consumer. And keeping more advanced features like DNS, OD, etc in Server Admin.
Notably missing from File Sharing is NFS and their are no advanced file sharing options in Server Admin.
All in all, I am pretty disappointed. I would much prefer the "Server Preferences" and "Server Admin" arrangement that is currently in SL Server. I definitely would not say this is fulling featured. At this time it is a giant downgrade

Are iPods glass-fronted like the iPhone? If so, then removing the button may reduce the chance of shattering the screen when dropped. The edge of the circular cutout could be the weakest point of the glass on an iPhone.
I agree though, it would be a pain if you couldn't hold the device without the fear of accidentally triggering a touch sensitive button, as you can with the current physical button.

Very interesting. My iPhone4 from ATT is still thinking it is the wrong time, SO very annoying. Also I am running 4.3.

I can't find anything like that in the log.
I think it's just getting sloppy due to it's age. It's an old 2GHz intel core 2 duo with a 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 and the hard drive was getting close to full. I deleted close to 4 GB of apps, gonna put the pictures somewhere safe and ease the load a little more too.

A lot of services are missing from server admin, some have dumbed down features in the server.app (which replaces server preferences) but a lot is missing.
Doesn't seem right to remove services. Perhaps they will reappear later in the beta.
At least for my use, all the services seem to be present (except Printer Server, which I use but don't really need, as all it really offers is spooling and is otherwise a PITA).
I don't really have time to install and look into this. I'll just investigate when the final release comes out, and maybe a .1 after that! I already know of some Lion issues that will keep me away for a while anyway. And as long as Snow Leopard server will work with Lion clients I can certainly wait!

This is a great thread. I'll be monitoring it to see how the Southlake line is shaping up. I plan on heading over there at lunch time for a peak and if it's really getting long I may camp out. Wish we had a way to know the current inventory (and by model/color).

The guy in the link is talking about raising revenue only, and since I can't find his post critiqued elsewhere (though it's quoted elsewhere), I don't know how accurate his numbers are. In any case, he doesn't seem to be including any cuts to the budget, which is ridiculous. Nor does he account for the fact that the recession has produced an ebb in tax revenues which will recede as jobs come back. It's a pretty one-dimensional argument.

If his numbers are even close to right then there is just no way the US can conceivably pay off even this years deficit. What if the recovery doesn't happen fast enough or at all? The united states goes bankrupt.

It smart for a teen, who is close to my age (20), to get into contact with a friend to get duplicated iPhone 4 cases in white, The look on the back looks original from Apple. I see Apple suing him for selling copy right infringement material. That would suck for him. I also see a issue for a Foxcomm employee letting material go out the door and Apple would get pissed over that. Apple has no power against the people. Only thing they can do is say "Oh well." :D

I would think it much more likely that he's getting maybe 10%-20% of that. Still, $13,000-$26,000 is not a bad haul for a couple months work...

The fact that congress cannot construct a budget is simply a failure of them to perform their duties. Part of the reason is that the motivation to avoid a shutdown isn't great enough, thus I propose a two-fold solution to motivate them a little
1) Congress persons do not get paid during the shutdown. Perhaps if they were to not get paid they would be more motivated.
2) In the event of a shutdown all members of congress immediately become ineligible to run for re-election for their current position and ineligible to run in any other federal election. Since a shutdown means they've failed, they shouldn't be allowed to continue.
That would be extra sweet. Wouldn't it require a constitutional amendment?

Strange question: can you use the Firmware Restoration CD to update your firmware? This disc is designed to fix a bad update from CD, bypassing the hard disk and the RAID array. Seems to me that it should work, in theory.

I tried this with my RAID0 Mac Pro and it doesn't work I am afraid. I can't get it to update when you hold down the power button. I really think that Apple have to address this problem. RAID0 is not going to be very unusual with the new Mac Pros.

For control and transport they didn't go with RTSP+RTP -- which has limitations around firewalls, proxies, CDNs, and more importantly, encryption/DRM -- and instead used HTTP Live Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming), which Apple openly submitted to the IETF a couple years ago, and has been undergoing standardization since.
And that's most of what there is to it. The only novel stuff is in the way Bonjour is used for this, and that was easily reverse engineered, which is how you now have software like AirPlayer (for OS X) and AirViewer (for iOS) which act as Apple TV-like AirPlay displays.
... But only for DRM-free videos. Anything that's wrapped in Fairplay (iTunes' DRM) can, as always, only be played back by official Apple-sanctioned software/devices.

Still no push, it can't be that hard can it? The small devs get push working on their apps no problem..
Most of the small devs charge us for push notification... Im pretty sure 7iphones out of 10 have facebook installed... Can you imagine pushing notification on all these devices? Plus its free so i can imagine how the server can easely be overloaded

When you are watching a YouTube video, I tend to forget where the home button is. Or when surfing the web for some time while in the dark.
And I don't literally mean glow in the dark like those cheap Halloween things, I'm talking about an actual light behind the capitative square symbol which has a sensor which turns on when there is a certain level of darkness.
I can easily envisage this happening . It would look fantastic.
Wouldn't that be so annoying in the dark, like the backlight on the keyboard of a MBP when your watching a movie?

Back several years ago I would go into this Walgreens (pharmacy/convenient store) fairly often. I had this one cute girl check me out (literally, ring up my order) a few times. I didn't think much of it. She seemed nice, pleasant. I never went there specifically to see her or anything, but when I was there if I did see her it was always a pleasant surprise.
One day I just decided I'd ask her out and I did the usual "I don't normally do this but you seem intriguing... yadda, yadda... would you like to go out sometime, etc". What did I hear back? "Well, I'm getting married next week." :o :eek: :o Yeah... not so much.
That's the price you pay for not being flirty very often, I can't even remember the ground rules. Look for a ring! Man, I felt stupid the few subsequent times I went to that store and she was there. I'm sure she felt awkward as well.
