Well I'm in and I have my family pack. I have to say though, the organisation of this release was atrocious. There were no barriers and loads of people pushed in without the staff doing anything about them. Even when they opened the doors, one guy who turned up 10 minutes before launch managed to get to pretty much the front of the queue. Elbows were needed.

Cool, more software is a good thing. No support for PowerPC users is just unfair, though. :( Oh well, I have no interest in it anyway. Now if it was Photoshop CS3... then I'd be pissed! :p

That $130k will all go to the lawyers, even if he is able to establish that he has a legal "right" to sell those parts, and I think that'll be a challenge.

Understood, but there is no "Pro" version of this new one, so I'm not sure where you were going with that.The Slim design isn't going to trickle down to the other models?

Anyone else thinks that Apple is readying the merger between iOS and MacOSX, at last?
I certainly hope not. I hate this merging of a phone OS with a real one. If that really happens (and I doubt it will anytime soon) I would jump back to Windows land and enjoy my new Apple gadgets for recreation.

my bet is they have several different manufacturers. with macbook split up between 2-3 builders.
I thought it was common knowledge that due to the great demand* for MBs, Apple had to find a second manufacturer to meet orders. Hence all the delays a month or two ago. Is it just me or why haven't folk put 2 and 2 together?
* despite being 'overpriced', 'obsolete' POS that no-one in their right mind would consider when you can have a dell with magical c2d for 300 bucks less? :confused:

I'd be interested to know this as well (have the same machine with the 512MB of VRAM option).I have the late 2009 MBP, 2.8 GHz 512mb graphics card. It runs fine, though I can't set it to ultra, I have to keep it on medium. When I forget to switch graphics cards, the 9400m runs on Low settings, but it still looks pretty good on low, just more cartoony.

The apple provided tableview cells have their own rules about size and positions of their labels and imageview. If you write a subclass and override layoutSubviews you can adjust the imageview according to your rules.

it was so annoying when i visited NYC that I could never access my 3G internet as the service was horrible. I couldn't believe how bad it was. There is no way i would own a iphone in NYC. Just my personal Experience.

There's a lot of waste in government, military or not. If the military can save money buying COTS solutions, we should all be happy.
And to those who keep trying to throw the discussion off-track, please keep the political cr@p off of here. There are plenty of other places where you can argue the good and bad of military/government/reality TV/etc. Personally, I think we should send the military after the Reality TV producers and contestants, but this isn't the forum for that :D

Hi all,
Does anyone have experience ripping audio from a concert DVD using VLC?
Whenever I use VLC using the "Open Disc" from the File tab and choosing the "Quicktime" encapsulation and only checking the audio transcoding option to mp3 (video transcoding is unchecked) it gives me a large file with both the video and sound. I only want to extract the audio so that I can play it on my ipod. Any help?

Just something I _think_ I remember reading, but didn't Apple change the firewire controller chip on some MacBook Pro's back around the time yours was made?
.... and the result was that some firewire devices were no longer recognized?

If you can't find the solution on macrumors, also check:
macintouch.com (use search function to check old reader reports)

I also think that some folks were able to "work around" this problem by using a firewire hub, but again, I can't confirm that.
