Another event, yet another disappointment.
What are you talking about, it isn't even over yet. All that was truly expected was an Aperture update, which has been delivered.

A slight warning about the caps replacement - Id recommend doing it carefully, you really dont want to ruin the board if you slip. Also check PDS slots still work post-op if/when you replace them :)
I agree, chrismacguy. I should have said that removing them isn't particularly easy. Nor hand soldering tanalum caps. Experience is very handy. Too much heat and you can lift tracks. Too little heat and you can rip tracks from the board.

I have a tv with an iPod dock as a feature that can play video off my iPhone when plugged in (the dock doesn't fit my iPad, booo). I don't really see why Apple would prevent Airplay from being built in to TVs when they have iPod docks. Kind of a no brainer here.
PS: The dock wasn't a factor, it was on sale. Having Airplay might have been a factor.

No way in crap would I pay a crap tax like that. Why don't we tax the people in office for every time they come up with a crap decision like this? Not only would our Natl. Debt be gone, we'd be in a surplus!!

I think this mentality is a direct result of the growing income gap in the US. If you pay the peons (lower and increasingly middle classes) less, any tax at all is going to hurt them. When the economy contracts, take away more of what makes a civil society civil and ramp up the continual but false idea that we're overtaxed...

ummm so can some one explain to me just what in the **** adobe is trying to accomplish?
Let's review.
1) Apple announces intel switch, Adobe is there with smiles raving "It's about time!"
2) Apple releases intel based MBP and iMac, shortly after Adobe releases Universal FAQs sheet saying that professionals will have to wait till CS3 for a universal binary.
3) Adobe starts cutting out PPC support, but has yet to offer any Intel Support.
Am I the only one a little confused by their actions? So what? neither chip is good enough?

Yes you can.
I installed XP on a new HDD with only one large partition (NTFS) without the 200mb EFI partition from OS X. I didn't use Bootcamp at all.
So far, everything's working fine and I can boot between OS X and XP with no problems.
That's really interesting! You just held "c" at boot to load up the XP CD?
I'm guessing you still needed to use a "slipstreamed" XP SP2 CD with the SATA drivers installed so it doesn't run in dog slow PIO mode
Where the hell did you find chipset drivers, graphics card drivers, sound card drivers etc?

I am all for getting rid of those too. This topic was about PP, so I expressed my feelings for that colossal waste of money. I didn't want to stray too far off topic.
The PP issue wasn't about cutting the budget for the right wingers, it was about pushing their agenda. Boehner got his pet project included for federal funding of private school vouchers in DC (read religious).

It's pretty clear that Apple will not be releasing to laptops before the holiday season. Laptops just aren't the typical gift. They are in the wrong price range.
Don't be surprised to see iTV sooner than later or the long waited video iPod.
Expect the new revised Mac Book Pro in January, featuring a redesigned enclosure and keyboard.
Sorry, but that the way it is.

This farce is merely Act I. Act II will be the fight over raising the debt ceiling. Finally, in Act III, we implode over the 2012 budget.

yeah I can see his point.
However there will be efforts to make it like a pc through accessorizing the device
not really.
It is a PC just the interface is changed.
RIM with QNX and their tablet "COULD" have the ability to distribute computing across them all over a wlan connection.
Apple could evolve the iPad to a central control for house appliances remotely and also become ubiquitous to anywhere we use paper! I'm hoping universities along with iTunes U consider this immensely - but with XServe gone on the back end with OS X Lion possibly also being dumbed down this may never happen. Tuition fees could drop considerably while students enjoy the work load annotating the work, submitting documents in PDF digitally signed and on record via a local or wireless sync to an FTP site (GoodReader).

and in september iPad 3 will move to #1 spot putting iPad 2 in second and original iPad in 3rd. And in 2012 iPad 4 will move to first...but i digress.
First off, leave my post alone.
Secondly you will see iPad 3 as early as September if competition is stiff. Only if iPad 2 retains major market share will Apple will delay release of iPad 3 until 2012, thus extending revenues from iPad 2.

So as a new MB user, in which everything works fine so far, this update means nothing to me?
first off, WELCOME...second off, just an FYI, all Mac users are required by law to be excited about every update the comes along, and should rush out on a drop of a dime to install it. It's just something you have to do, or your membership to the Mac community gets revoked. 8-)
All joking aside.....I really wish support for Blackberry 7130e as a USB modem would be built in. I have the Verizon software for Windows....and the Mac version (made for Verizon by Smith Micro) does not support the Blackberry yet 8(
I gotta boot into Windows or use Parrallels...yech...

I already took it up with Developer Relations aka dev support, they said sorry soon. I actually got the disc anyway from my co-worker who went to WWDC, but I'm annoyed because I work with other select developers on a project, and I'd like to start checking out documentation on core animation, and some of the new features for a new application we want to build
Why are you asking here? Why not call Apple developer relations and ask them?
I'm not going to say Microsoft is better than Apple as far as development, because XCode rocks, however MS is like Dell.... You can compare retail price of a Dell and a Mac and the mac will be cheeper however Dell always has some discount coupon. MS does the same sort of thing, if you are a Student you can get full on access to beta builds from day one, like you were Adobe. MS always has some discount, or deal you can get for their premium tools. Granted I don't think that's a good strategy for an OS, (great way to have features stolen) but being an Apple select developer (i assume you are too) the login is Underwhelming compared to what you get with MS. I wish Apple had more mailing lists, forums, private stuff for people who paid. For example anyone can have access to the cocoa-dev mailing list, which is a good thing, but if say I wanted to discuss core-animation with other developers, and Apple programmers, I'm not allowed to do this, and there is no private lists for select developers to discuss with each other.
I think in general apple needs to provide more ways for the paying developers to communicate with each other. I've learned everything I know about XCode and programming from the mailing lists, I'd love apple to have private web based discussion forums for paying developers.
Microsoft is also more than happy to charge through the teeth for decent developer tools too.
