When I check for updates in outlook it tells me 'no updates available' ... oh well, downloading it now directly from the webpage linked in the article.Perhaps it doesn't detect the update unless you use Outlook. Some MS Office users, like me, don't even install Outlook, and Check for Updates didn't show it for me either.
Moving from Outlook is a good think no matter what. The databases used stinks. It chokes at about a million records and sooner or later, it will slow down, become lazy and before you know it... done. Corrupted... just like a US politician. :D
I find that it corrupts the database when it reaches 2GB in storage, no matter how many messages are involved.

Pardon my ignorance. I've never used a server before, but now that it is being opened up for free in Lion, is this something that I could benefit from? What can it be used for from average home consumers?

So how am I supposed to take this news?
It's up to you.
It's like addressing any other reviewer: boors, cars, movies, restaurants, music, electronics, clothing, whatever. You decide yourself if a particular reviewer's voice rings true to you.
Some people read the New York Times' book reviews and pay care attention to Michiko Kakutani. Others couldn't care less.
A lot of people here have a problem with the way CR conducts their reviews. That's fine. Others trust their judgment. Replace "CR" with Engadget, Gizmodo, David Pogue, Walter Mossberg, Anandtech, etc. Same deal.
We can't tell you how to feel about this news. You have to figure it out yourself.

Must be nice to be able to spend all day standing in line. I have to earn my iPad 2 today by going to work. I plan on getting there at 4:00pm sharp, save me a white 32gb with an orange cover please :-)

Mall security is getting anal about sitting in front of stores. They came by and measured out from the store opening and if you are in the way they make you move.
On a good note the Nestle toll house cookie store is starting to open.

I keep looking at the WWDC '11 image with the rows of applications like one of those Magic Eye images that were big back in the 90's.
I could never see the damn images then, so I'm of no use in this hunt, but perhaps better trained Magic Eye viewers are out there...

My user name is Astral_Cars and ID number is 379088 (I think) but my stats aren't on EOC, that's the problem. I've had it running for three or four days and I'm still not on there.
Nothing anybody here can do really. http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userstats has no Astral_Cars either.
Maybe you should just wait until you've ended a WU or you've mistyped your username.

The thread here is funny. So many off topic rambles.
But... this seems like a great thing! Fast I/O between the iOS device and the Mac. It will make for amazingly fast throughput and it standardizes on one port. Yes, another change, but in the long run, it should be awesome. Let's hope this happens.

Make the RAM user upgradable even if it means only having one ram slot. I really feel strongly about this because it seems that the MBA is morphing into a full functional iPad with a keyboard. :(
I can not help wonder if this is going to put more laptops in landfills this way.:eek: There are many people that can't afford ordering the ultimate BTO option and are able to upgrade the components over time.:cool:

Where RobbieDuncan is missing the boat, and most that are arguing incorrectly is that the image will be the same using an EF lens on either a 1.6 sensor'd camera or a FF sensor'd camera. The end result is that it will not. Focal length of the lens has not changed, but your image has.
I have never argued that. I have argued that an EF and an EF-s lens with the same focal lengths mounted on the same camera will produce the same effective field of view.
You have, of course, argued differently: that the same focal length on the same camera will produce different images. Which is clearly nonsense:

I think what we are all seeing is that the differentiating factor between Apple and "the others" is no longer software. Windows 7 is now good enough that it can easily compete with (and in many areas, exceed) the software offering on any Mac.
It's now down to hardware manufacturers to do the work to bring their machines up to a standard to match the OS. From what I've seen Dell have been making significant improvements in recent months and years and Lenovo still exudes quality.
Three or four years ago I wouldn't have considered anything that wasn't made by Apple. But now I'd definitely look at a Windows machine first when replacing my desktop and I'd give some Windows laptops a lot of consideration as well.

How is this any differernt than posting a pic of you at a bar or a pic of something while on vacation from your iPhone (or other phone). Even without this Places feature its easy to figure out who isnt at home.
This would be a lot better because you won't have to take a picture of yourself at the bar (with your hair all jacked up, a girl who isn't your wife beside you in the picture, and 8 empty bottles of beer in the background).

Actually they are concerned that their mac share is growing and they were not ready for it. Within their creative apps macs are over 50% and growing.

That seams like a great idea! But how can I use the mask and wand tool? Can anyone please teach me?
Either use the toolbar or the shortcuts to activate the MASK or WAND tool.
"M" for rectangular or circular masks, "L" for the Lasso tool and "W" for the Wand.
Or do you mean something else entirely? Have you checked the PSD I attached? Have you checked the plethora of tutorials out there on how to use PS? Have you checked the HELP of PS?
