Not so sure about this guy. Based on the picture, he seems to have that "deer staring at headlights" look that all M$ employees display, especially Ballmer.
First thing he's going to have to get used to is that once he comes up with an idea (and let's all hope it's an original one, considering the fact he's moving from Redmond), it won't be just barely good enough to foist on an unsuspecting public for decades.

Pages 1.0 is typical Apple. Anytime Apple puts out the first version of a product, its really a beta.
And, no, not necessarily because of bugs, but because it lacks the features or speed that a GM product should (ie OS 10.0)

No way in hell. They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.
99.999% likelihood of this being total nonsense.
More importantly if developers where paying attention they would have heard Apples very strong suggestion to avoid dependecies on screen size and resolution. Something Apple has been suggesting for years now.

The phrase Podcast didn't exist until the development of Apple's iPod so I don't see why they shouldn't own the rights to it or at least have some level of control for it's use.

its interesting that every intel mac so far, other than the mac mini, has needed a SMC update (if my memory serves me correctly).
It's even more strange that all of them seemed to become louder after the update. How lucky for Apple that all the reviews mentioning the Intel-Macs' exceptional silentness had already been written by then, eh? ;-)

It's not call an elite or a slim. It is just called Xbox 360 and then the Hard Drive size. My friend at gamestop said there should be a different model (either with a smaller hard drive or no hard drive) coming before the end of summer, due to their current xbox 360 arcade inventory.
Also, Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/18/new-xbox-360-gets-a-proper-teardown-analysis-power-and-noise-re/) has a breakdown of the insides of the system. The system is quieter and uses less power.

They also said that there probably won't be a price break/reduction in the near future. Soif you were planning on picking up a 360, the current model is 50 bucks cheaper than the slim.

I think what we are all seeing is that the differentiating factor between Apple and "the others" is no longer software. Windows 7 is now good enough that it can easily compete with (and in many areas, exceed) the software offering on any Mac.
It's now down to hardware manufacturers to do the work to bring their machines up to a standard to match the OS. From what I've seen Dell have been making significant improvements in recent months and years and Lenovo still exudes quality.
Three or four years ago I wouldn't have considered anything that wasn't made by Apple. But now I'd definitely look at a Windows machine first when replacing my desktop and I'd give some Windows laptops a lot of consideration as well.

The problem with CR's iPhone 4 report was not that they didn't recommend the iPhone 4 when it originally came out on AT&T but that they then reiterated their "Not recommend" labeling for the Verizon iPhone 4 for having the same 'death grip' issue. They did this despite that the Verizon version had a different antenna design. Anandtech, who were amongst the first to quantify the 'death grip' issue for the AT&T version, showed that in fact the VZ iPhone 4 fared no worse than other smartphones. For the original iPhone 4, CR felt while it was great in many categories, it's antenna issue was too great a problem in their eyes. One could argue that they overstated the problem given that most users didn't seem to mind, but their position of "Not recommended" is not unjustifiable for the AT&T iPhone 4. However, CR clearly screwed up on the VZ iPhone 4.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
I have Office 2011 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows which I run in VMWare Fusion (got both for $9.95 each through Microsoft's Home Use Program). I much prefer Excel 2010 in Windows but Word 2011 and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are fine.
