I'm running Panther on a G5 with multiple user accounts. When my wife opens a PDF document from the web it automatically gets saved to her desktop. Her desktop is getting just a tad crowded. I've tried searching "help" in acrobat reader (latest version) but for the life of me can't find anything that would automatically save to her desktop. BTW, when she does click on a PDF doc the screen that comes up defaults to "open" with and not "save". We are using Mozilla as our browser if that makes any difference. Any help would be appreciated. In respect to the dedicated graphics card, I totally agree with you here. I keep saying it, but a dedicated gaming machine made in the Apple style would absolutely vault them 5% in share overnight. Maybe more.
Hmm...interesting idea. Maybe Apple could offer a $100 upgrade to a decent video card in the MacBook and Mac mini. And brand those as the "gaming" versions of those machines. I think this would be worth it for Apple. Even though it would cannibalize some MBP sales, I think the increase in MacBook sales would be much larger than the slight drop in MBP sales...
EDIT: And hey, what about if in order to highlight the multithreaded Open GL capabilities in OS X, the "gaming versions" came with World of Warcraft preinstalled and optimized for multithreading? It would be a boon for Apple since WoW is so popular, and it would be good marketing for Blizzard, since WoW makes most of its money from subscriptions anyway...

You know what? There was an ex-MTV VJ that made his own show using a Powerbook and two mics and he called it "Podcasting." There was an issue of Wired Magazine with him on the cover damn near two years ago. People were using the term "podcast" before Apple did. Apple has no right to do thsi to teh people who've made their player the most successful MP3/Portable Media device EVER.

Pages and Numbers are much easier to use, and far nicer to look at than Office. If I don't need the horsepower I prefer iWork. If I do need the horsepower I have Office 2003 running on a late 2009 mini that is Windows 7 only. Office 2003 works great with W7, and it's not all blue looking like some of the newer versions.
As usual Windows runs MS software much better than Mac OS does.
They made Mac OS office very similar to the windows counterpart in the 2011 version. Granted its not 100% the same but the gap between office 2011 on mac and office 2011 on windows is very tiny now.

I think it's Time you're Warned about Cable.
Go with DirecTV. Their new iPad app is awesome, acts as the best remote ever. Instead of paging through listings, I can swipe momentum style through the guide on my screen and tune my TV directly through it. No iPad watching yet, but I imagine sometime soon enough when they all start to offer it, the competition will force it. I can create multiple guides for things like sports, kids, movies, news. They all live update. Set and control your DVR all through the app.

Seriously, does anyone know how to use an email address that is not a mac.com address as the reply-to in .mac webmal?
I only use the webmail at work, and at home Mac OS X Mail lets me use my "real" email address as the reply-to. I would love to know how to do it in webmail. An earlier poster said you can, but I just can't see how.

Yeah, tell me about it (looks down at my Quad). But honestly, I think it will suck even more for Adobe, as they are really limiting themselves in the market that they can reach. Come on Adobe, it wouldn't be THAT hard to code according to Apple's Universal standards, would it?
Then again, they may be trying to go for the optimal performance possible. Hows great, lion just froze up, i did a hard restart and everything is there ready to carry on. with all the crashes/blue screen of death ms had years ago, you would of thought they would of done something like this.

i doubt apple with update the MB soon, there just wouldnt be enough distinguishing the MB from the MBP if they both got C2D at the same time, mostl ikely it will be like the mini, it will get a small speed bump.
Intel's line doesn't leave much room for a bump... unless Apple is going to use the Core and Core 2 processors as a product differential. Talk about gay considering the two kinds of chips costs pretty much the same.

As ITR 81 already mentioned, they are already often selling at below their cost to attract customers. They don't have any room to go lower unless the studios drop their prices.

thats true and I agree, however best buy often offers much lower prices, which attracts me to them, hell I'm a loyal customer regardless of how crappy of a company it may be.

I tried.. i really tried..please read carefully what i wrote..
the "cropping" was referred to only one camera body.. just to illustrate you the whole crop size thing.
Now on the top of my quote you write to show you an exif intact photo with an EFs and EF lens..
I cannot do that as I don't have my cam but I will have it back on the weekend and I actually own a dx and FX lens (EF-s and EF) in Nikon land that overlap at 24mm, so I CAN show you..
to everyone else: Can someone do this before then to show our poor misguided soul what is going on?.
As far as Nikon goes: The reason was the F- Mount.. High speed crop is a byproduct. the D700 does not have it and some other don't either but they all MOUNT DX lenses in crop mode AND full frame mode.

Well here's a screenshot form my Dot Mac Web Mail. I must say I like the new layout, the only thing I think it's missing is a Junk Mail feature, you know if you can sync the Junk preferences from your Apple Mail app to the Web Mail app, now that would be a nice improvement but, other than that. This is pretty darn good. Now just lower the price and bump the storage or features and we'll be good ;)
