Not only has Apple’s mobile platform share been artificially cut down by separating out the iPhone alone, the other mobile device makers have had their share artificially increased, by lumping them all together! But since those devices vary in size, version and capabilities so much, they do NOT add up to a single platform in the way iOS does. Not for developers, not for device makers, and not for users.

If you don't have it now - don't bother getting it. There are free services that do everything that .Mac does. However, since I am so dependent on the email address - I'm stuck paying the $99 a year.
You can get it for $79, sometimes lower, on Amazon.com. Don't fall for the all-too-easy "automatic renewal" check box. I've wasted at least one hundred bucks over the years through that thing.

iPhone 4's screen is still great compare to other phones.
I can vouch for this. I've been using Android these last two years, and I was looking to upgrade the phone this summer. At this point, it's either stay where I am or get iPhone5 whenever it drops. I have looked at a LOT of phones, and even those Android devices that DO use qHD screens look like garbage next to a Retina screen.
People keep telling me, 'oh, there's no difference if you hold it farther from your face--your eyes can't tell'. Well, I don't have super vision or anything, but seriously, I CAN tell. that 330+ ppi makes a hell of a difference, and as of right now, even after months for multiple Android device manufacturers to get their act together, not a one of them has a screen that can rival it. They have bigger, sure, but they do not have better.
It's actually kinda frustrating, as Android 2.2.3 is finally a solid, excellent little OS that totally bests iOS4x in many ways. But it seems no one can actually create hardware that's worthy of it.
So, it's come down to whether someone will actually design a better device for Android on par with iPhone, or if Apple will actually tweak iOS 5 enough to fix all the things everyone knows is wrong with it.
I honestly don't know which is more likely, as they both seem pretty damned UNlikely.

Ahhhh.
I'm tempted to buy one just because of it's design/uniqueness and relatively low price.
"Music to my Ears" would be a good engraving, but I don't think I'd get an engraving just in case I wanted to sell it?

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.
The timing of all these "bitching" posts just seems suspicious.

I mean like, I have the new brit Femme Fatale album, ripped it to FLAC.
I used MAX to convert it to ALAC and everything is fine, but when I checked the bit rates of each individual songs in iTunes they were different, is it supposed to be like this or is it some problem with MAX and how it encodes them?
Like one song would have 900 something and another song would have 1100 something, it's weird.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lacie's SilverKeeper (http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/). It works very well for backups; basically syncing your folders with the backup version (on your iPod, or your FireWire drive, or wherever). Unlike CarbonCopyCloner it removes files from the backup that are no longer on the source, and it only copies the files that have changed. Also it'll let you keep multiple copies of the backups.

First, you've let Android have all that time to get a following because it's the only alternative for the lack of an iPhone. Those people have also bought apps that they now enjoy and would have to re-purchase on the iPhone. This happens with video game systems as well.
Second, people are in 2yr contracts. There are very few people who are willing to pay more for a phone they can buy 4 months later at half price on top of the termination fee.
Third, not that many people hate AT&T it's just the handful of VZW fans that make it look that way.
And finally you have the reporting and reviews. All the reports I saw were telling VZW people and potential switchers to hold off on getting the iPhone 4. No 4G, no white and still had the questionable signal issues. The "iPhone 5" was supposed to come out mid to late summer so people were concerned Apple would sell them a phone and then jump up 6 months later with the newer, thiner, better version and leave folks hanging.
People are paying attention to these reports and that's why I feel the numbers were low.
