I wonder if Rosetta was handicapped during the transition period so people would still purchase the remaining exciting PowerPC products.
Funny, I really haven't noticed any bad slowdowns in any of the software I use on my Mac Pro (could be it was such a huge upgrade for me tho :).

Re-writable optical media was only useful when the price of non-rewritable media was still non-trivial. When the cost of an optical disc is $0.10 in bulk at retail, people stopped caring considering how long it took to "erase" the disc for re-use.
I'd say around 2003 or 2004 is when I had long stopped caring about re-writable optical media. Especially considering that photo-reactive dye was prone to degrading over time, rendering the data unreadable.
The main issue with SD and most removable media is still transfer rate and access time. Although you *can* boot off of it, most mobile hard disks still handily trounce SD media. Granted, I'd expect SD and other removable flash memory to pass all spinning rust in due time.

I'm puzzled by why these apps all just tout iPhone compatibility. Why not also the iPad?
I have an iPad with 3G and the built-in map sucks (compared to my real Garmin Nuvi). I'd pay to have good navigation on it. So why the hate from Garmin?
I think I have the hardware, don't I? I can receive 3G data, which also means my iPad has GPS. Isn't that enough?

Why is that not unrealistic? NYC has 8.3 million people as of 2008. Even if 99,999 people had their identities stolen for iPhones, that's only 1.2% of the population. Consider that as of 4.6% of the population were victims of ID fraud according to the Federal Trade Commission.

4S. I like the name, and it makes sense to keep continuity with the previous naming scheme (3GS). I guess we'll see a true iPhone 5 next summer.

I loved every minute of it. I've been under it twice for various surgeries. I always treated it like a game, seeing how long I can stay awake. Before you know it, someone is shaking you and telling you their all done. It's pretty incredible if you ask me, your out just like that. If only I could go to sleep that well every night.

There is no application for iPhone in the Japanese trademark database.
Apple failed to use the name "Airport" in japan, so they changed to "Airmac" at last. Even if somebody took the name already, its nothing to affect the product release but only to change the name and launch.

Then how do you feel about our current president?
Our current POTUS was given a bad hand from our previous POTUS, who pretty much trashed the place on his way out. the previous POTUS enacted TARP to bail out the banks with no oversight on the funding, left us with unpaid wars, a horrid economy, and a disaster of a budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. And people blame our current POTUS for that, when the bulk of that wasn't his doing. And when he tries to step out and do something better, you hear "No", "where's your birth certificate", "you're a Muslim", and catches more flak when those that do this complaining ask him where all of his promises are, and call for his impeachment.
Our current POTUS needs to grow a pair and do a LOT more, no doubt; but he's done well so far, given the circumstances and obstacles dealt him.

I can see Apple giving the developers of Infinity Blade and Real Racing an iPhone with the A5 chip. Is it the iPhone 5? No. It's just an iPhone 4 + A5 chip.
The actual iPhone 5 will have much more features. Apple always does this, because at the end of the day they're a business and they will add features which they omitted from iPhone 4. To get everyone to upgrade.

My parents just got there, my mom is awesome (swap out with her once I get there). My dad said that they were around 20-25 in line, and within 30 minutes there are now 25 people behind them...so 50 people total (rough estimate.) So I am not sure but I am guessing that line to be over 100+ people around 1ish....I am shocked so many people are there so soon. Maybe its just me though....maybe this is normal....

I think what we are all seeing is that the differentiating factor between Apple and "the others" is no longer software. Windows 7 is now good enough that it can easily compete with (and in many areas, exceed) the software offering on any Mac.
It's now down to hardware manufacturers to do the work to bring their machines up to a standard to match the OS. From what I've seen Dell have been making significant improvements in recent months and years and Lenovo still exudes quality.
Three or four years ago I wouldn't have considered anything that wasn't made by Apple. But now I'd definitely look at a Windows machine first when replacing my desktop and I'd give some Windows laptops a lot of consideration as well.
