It was easy last year to not pass the bill. We had a Republican President & Congress and Democrats kept on blaming republicans for not doing anything. I think this time the ball will be in the Democrat's court to pass the CIR and send to the President for signature. They won't be able to blame it on republicans.

I am too in same boat, just numbers here and there. Infact my employer has done this to all his guys. He is minting... man!!! yours is atleast asking for contract, mine just said give me flat cash, n no paperwork. he says he will return, but you know who returns.
also he changed name of the company and so all the approved 140s has to be reapproved so all are again stuck.

I have an Olympus C2100 Ultrazoom. The real focal length of the lens is given as 7mm to 70mm (38mm to 380mm on 35mm equiv). When I operate the zoom lever, a bar appears in the viewfinder with T at the top and W at the bottom. Can I assume that this scale will be linear in terms of the focal length ie if the number of steps between W and T is 30, would each step increase the focal length by 63/30 mm (=(70-7)/30)? This would,however, mean that my standard 50mm equivalent focal length would be only one step up from the W end of the scale, which does not ring true. In which case, is there an easy way to 'calibrate ' this scale?

Hello all,
Recently I got my H1B stamped at Mumbai India, this was my
third H1B, and fifth US visa(I got two B1/B2s in addition). The
US Visa stamping process has been streamlined and better organized
than it was when I got my first one in 1999!:)
Process started with me paying visa fees upfront at HDFC bank.
after paying the fees, they will give two copies of the receipt,
one for you and one for the consulate.
Next step is to get yourself photographed. Every photo studio
in Bombay knows the specification now, so it was no problem.:)
Get digital copies of the photographs.
Next step is to go online and fill the application forms. One needs
to upload photographs and enter the fee payment receipt number
in the form. Once completed, print the application after saving.
The application form has a bar code, so please make no changes
after the printout, if you do one needs to take a fresh print.
The next step was to arrange an appointment for visa stamping
which can be done online, once appointment is fixed
one can go to the visa application center which is very
near the Consulate at Breach Candy. They will verify the application
and give you a confirmation of the appointment. Make sure
that you submit your application form at least three business
days before the visa appointment.
To avoid the morning hour traffic we checked into a hotel
near the consulate. The appointment was 10:30 AM, but we
reached the consulate at 10:00. The appointment confirmed
suggested we do not go to the consulate before 10:15, but
went ahead anyway. The security let us in. :) The consulate
was full of visa aspirants, and I braced myself for a long wait.
We submitted our application forms after getting our fingers
printed.
To my surprise, we were called for interview at around 10:10.
The consulate officer commented that I have already lived
in the US, to which I said yes. The question was repeated to
my wife, who also had a stint in the US. Then she asked me
what kind of work I will be doing in US. I gave a rather long
answer which I guess bored her a bit. My six year daughter
complained that it she is tired, the consular officer started
small talk with her. Then she said my passport will be sent
by courier. By 10:20 we were on our way back home.
We received our passports separately over the next 10 days.
surprisingly my daughter got hers within 2 days, but my
wife had to wait full 10 days!
I am in the US now :)

Hello all,
I had a question: My and my wife's 485 ND is august 27 from TSC. We haven't got any FP notice yet.
Is anyone in a similar situation? data indicates that most of the august notice dates applicants have already got their FP appointments. I am from NJ so newark must be my ASC.
Should I call USCIS or wait?
Any suggestions are welcomed...

Spoke with a lawyer - he said have a letter from my company saying i was training our indian vendor and now returning back to resume work in US. Also have proof/documents that shows my US company exists and a verification letter from them.
My question is (i forgot to ask him) what sort of documents i need from my company which shows the company exists - i dont think my company will give out its Tax Returns. What other documents should i ask for?

Thanks. Could you tell me more details if possible through a PM? I applied last year. During that month PD had gone from 2004 to 2003 to 2000 to U and then back to 2003. My PD was March 15 2004. Yes I could have waited for PD to become current and of course I would have preferred EAD for my wife. But you know as well as I do how the PD movement is. There is no way to tell what the PD will be next month. Knowing how these consultancies work we had investigated a lot. We talked to couple of people who had worked for him and they recommended him. They said they haldnt got any trouble from him. So we went ahead. I agree it was a mistake. But anyway whats done is done. Now just looking ahead.
I am new to this PD business as you can see from my profile I have no dates (yeah stupid me!!)..my employer working on perm application.Anyways, you can PM me or we can discuss here as it may help others too.

If this happens, there will be some other type of insurance for the bank accounts that will be set up at that time, btw , if your money is in any of the sensitive banks it is better to move it out to more stable banks.

Unfortunately for renewal and replacement EAD you will have to pay the new fee of $340 and yes your EAD will be valid for only one year.

Since my current EAD is expiring Sep 10th, I'm planning to go to the local USCIS office for an interim EAD in first week of Sep.
What is the procedure, do i need to take infopass or any other apoointment or just walk in with papers ?
It's not yet been 90 days since i filed, but i still want to give it a shot. I plan to take a letter from my employer saying without interim EAD (without me being able to work) company would face a setback in a critical phase of project.
I also plan to use such a letter in support of an expedite request.
Gurus please advice:
- How soon should I fax expedite request?
- How soon/late should i go to local USCIS office for interim EAD?
- Could one interfere the other?

The only option we have is to request for expedite process which we can do by calling the USCIS customer service number. This you can get it in the USCIS website.

what you got from is correct. Here is info from Ron's article in which he refers FAM's and INA clause. This is a copy paste from Ron's article. Do check with your lawyer before proceeding. I am getting a Non avail of birth cert from India and then adding two affidavits from parents in my wife's case.

An applicant or petitioner who has not been able to acquire the necessary document or statement from the relevant foreign authority may submit evidence that repeated good faith attempts were made to obtain the required document or statement. However, where the USCIS finds that such documents or statements are generally available, it may require that the applicant or petitioner submit the required document or statement.�
The following advice from the Department of State�s Foreign Affairs Manual with respect to a missing birth recordis typical:
�In cases where birth certificates from the authorities are unavailable or contain insufficient information regarding the birth or the parents, a sworn affidavit executed by either the parents, if living, or other close relatives older than the applicant, may be submitted. It should set forth the relationship between the deponent and the applicant, how well the deponent knows the applicant, date and place of the applicant's birth, the names of both parents, and any other related facts. The following, also from the FAM, is typical advice regarding an unregistered marriage:
�If the marriage has not been officially registered, then two sworn affidavits giving the names, dates and places of birth of the bride and groom, and the date and place of marriage, as well as the names of the parents of both parties are acceptable. The affidavits must be executed by one of the parents of each party, or if the parents are deceased, by the nearest relative of each party who was present at the wedding.�
Applicants must keep in mind that before they can offer secondary evidence, such as affidavits, they must first prove that the primary evidence does not exist or is otherwise unavailable.
