It takes 578mhz to do one w/u a day. Therefore that would mean an 867mhz would do 1.5 a day (accurate, thats what my PB does) and a 266mhz would do one every 2.1 days, also accurate. Someone compare my equation to their computer. All you do is take your CPU speed and divide it by 578. It *should* give you roughly the w/u you complete in one day.
First off, every work unit is different. Second did you take into account that if SETI runs in Blank screen mode it runs WUs faster? Of course not. I run a B/W G3/300 in blank screen mode and can complete a WU in 20-22 hrs. I have stated before that in Blank screen mode WUs can be crunched much faster than screensaver mode. I figure my WU times by looking at the percentage of WU completion per hour. 300MHz = roughly 5% per hour. 450/466 MHz = roughly 7.5% per hour. 1.25GHz = 16% per hour. Take your 100 and divide by the average completion per hour---100/7.5=13.33hrs.

I walked in to the Spectrum Center BestBuy (accross the street from RTC) at noon. They have an area set aside for a line, but there was no one in it at that time. I also asked the clerk if they would be checking demand in the line and advising customers if there was a shortage, and he said "no".
So if you're not willing to take chances guessing whether they will have adequate stock (and I'm not), you're better off taking your chances with the Apple stores.
At least Tysons is indoors :P

A lot of the times if you don't properly drive a high impedance can, a lot of its sound won't be as tight and crisp as it should, so it's not just the volume output. I remember the first time I heard a high quality tube amp on a HD650 in a store, it was the first time it made a song I really know and like have a bass that sounded like an actual kick drum rather than a soft boom boom noise, I was pretty amazed.Yup, I was really surprised when I started using a headphone amp for the first time. Its a powerful difference.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Have you plugged your hd650's into a mbp? How did it sound?

My MacBookPro 2,4 Ghz 15' Santa Rosa doesn't start. Every time I try to start the computer it just says that I need to restart and it goes on and on with the same message.
The monitor has stripes of red/purple over a purple blueish background. And all this happens 2,5 years after buying it. I would like to know if this repair program will be extended to Portugal, when the claim will be won after December 2010.
I do hope so and Apple must be aware of the quality of the parts she is buying for their computers.
It's the second time I have this problem in 4 years with 2 different computers, although the first time the motherboard was replaced within the warranty time.

I've been using Keynote lately for work presentations. It's annoying not to be able to give them to PC co-workers. PPT such a piece of crap, and i'd like to be able to use keynote more, but sadly it's not super useful anywhere other than my computer.

As long as Jobs announces that they are in fact "shipping today" then yes, the Apple Stores should have them immediately and you would also be able to order them from the onliine store.
There is talk that iLife might be previewed today, however not released yet, as it might have some tie-ins to Leopard and will be released at the same time as 10.5 instead of today. :cool:

Got mine this evening as well. About 10 people in line, had to wait an hour. Thought they would have run out of 16gb model andwWas expecting a 3 hour wait like the launch of the 3G.

Question about incase slider, is it as bad with bubbling up screen protectors as I've heard? The case is EXACTLY what I've been looking for but I NEED a screen protector. I've been looking at the power source hd anti glare.
definitely terrible. For sure won't work with anything other than a crystal screen protector (since everything else is thicker) and its gotta be good quality thats cut basically perfect. (cheapies will not work 99% of the time) and youll prolly have to apply the shield with the case on unless u got lucky or did a really good job.

I was wondering if we could get an iOS forum as well, since there's one for Mac OS X, and none specifically for iOS (unless i'm blind). It seems that a lot of people are talking about iOS updates in the iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch forums.
What do you guys think?
People discuss iOS in general when there's a news story about it (in the matching discussion thread) or from a programming point of view (for which there's a forum). Otherwise, they post about it in the forum for the device they are using. The question is whether they'd really switch to discussing it in a single iOS forum. I think some people would use the new forum but many others would not, so we'd end up further fragmenting those discussions. But you need a crystal ball to know these things for certain.
