An Invisible Shield for an iPod touch 1G can still be found. I've used one since December 2007. It was a little difficult to get on right, but after doing so it has worked wonderfully at preventing any scratches to the back.

I'm currently playing around with half a dozen different media player apps on my mba 13 ultimate setup. I can't seem to find a hands down favorite and I wanted to see what others are using?
Movist - my default media player at the moment though i've recently started having crashes on mkv's with embeded subtitles.
MplayerX - I absolutely love the way it looks with the borderless window but I can't seem to get it to work efficiently without skipping and choppiness.. watching a hd mkv over the network and it skips every 2 seconds.. same video files stream perfectly in movist or mplayer extended. Has anyone else had this problem?
VLC - my player of choice on pc and works sufficiently well on mac
Mplayer Extended - works great and i love that you can launch multiple instances. Interface is a bit lacking though.
any others?

AH, Jetpac!
Many an hour as a child hunched over my Spectrum 128K keyboard.
Still have the cassete from 1983.
Recorded twice on each side!, and proper hard plastic glass.

Do you have to be a student to buy from your campus store?
Don't think so I've bought Apple merchandise at NMSU, no has ever asked me for an ID or any other proof of being student/faculty/staff. However, I am a student, so maybe they're just used to seeing my face.
Look at it this way, the worst they can tell you is "no." Personally, I doubt that will happen.

Yeah, it's not the best but it's easy to use with minimal fuss.
Might take a look at word press, being able to edit from my iPad would be cool.

A work around you could do is buy a stereo mini to one quarter inch adapter (like this (http://www.headphone.com/accessories/stereo-mini-to-one-quarter-inch-adapter.php) one) and then a quarter to mini that fits (like this (http://www.headphone.com/accessories/grado-quarter-to-eighth-inch-plug-adapter.php)), and that way you can avoid buying new headphones.
But if you prefer new headphones I would recommend a portable pair like Sennheiser PX200-2 (just as a little note, they are a lot better than the first version of the PX200), full size I can't remember now one with a "skinny" connector.

If you're willing to change your number or pay $20 to have your current number transferred to google voice, the google voice app is amazing.
(google voice is amazing in general, and definitely worth while)
Basically what happens with google voice, is that when people text your Google Voice number, those text messages go to your google voice inbox. This inbox can be read from your computer or from the google voice app. You can also have these text messages forwarded to your real phone. From your real phone, you can reply or send text messages through your google voice number.
From the app, you text like normal. Google voice is free to set up, I highly recommend giving it a try. For now you'll need to use the iPhone App, which should work fine. There's also an app called talkatone which lets you make free US calls through you google voice number from your ipad/iphone over wifi or 3G.
I'm currently a college student, and I've used my ipod touch + google voice as my primary phone (we have wifi everywhere). The only time I use my real phone is when I don't have wifi, which has allowed me to drop from an expensive contract to roughly $12/month (1000texts for $10/m + roughly 20 minutes in non-wifi calling) for AT&T pay as you go.
It's a wonderful system if you ask me.

Im running a mac mini late 2009 2.26 ghz 4gb ram, and my istat pro is reading 3.9 million page ins since i restarted this morning. I use my mac for web surfing, music, 1080p video/netflix, gaming (WoW).
Is this normal? Will this hinder performance?
Thanks!
It's normal and no, it won't hinder performance. Also, it's not a count of how many page in events occurred, but rather the amount of data moved. Page ins occur when your computer copies information (apps, documents, etc.) from the hard drive into RAM to work on it. It's the page outs and swap used that indicate whether you're maxing out RAM or not.

first: in the browse by artist/song/genre listings, provide an alphabetical jump-list so people don't have to scroll through the entire catalog.
right now it's not a problem to scroll through the entire database -- it's at a size where this can still be done. but once you hit critical mass, i'm imagining a scenario where someone wants to look at the content on a scope somewhere between a full-catalog browse and a specific search. accessing what's in the database might be an easier task if the information is available at several different granularities.
second: (and this may be what user jbembe recently suggested; i'm not sure if i followed that thread correctly) provide a weighted song-recommendation function. pick a song, or a group of songs, from your playlist. other people's playlists are scanned, and playlists that contain your selection(s) are retrieved, providing a pool of songs that have been recommended by people who share some portion of your musical interests.
these select playlists are then examined, and if a song exists on (just for instance here) 50% or more of these playlists then it's assumed that the song has some merit and isn't just one person's fancy. lastly, if the song doesn't already exist in your own playlist, it's recommended to you.

I see... Well, I just think I got it mixed up with misanthropy. I've read about pronunciation symbols and stuff, but I'm still unsure about certain things. Like the damn accent on certain syllables... Well anyways, thanks for the help.

IMAP doesn't sync contacts - you can use your exchange setup to sync mail, contacts, and calendars (and I believe notes, not 100% on that one), is there a reason why you wouldn't do that?
Exchange wont do notes nor will it allow you to change the delete button to archive. I guess I'll just leave it as it is as it's working fine - I just wondered if I was missing some way to sync contacts via IMAP.

Here lately Apple's been releasing stuff as soon as they announce it. I sure as heck hope they release the new MBPs (if they are announced) the same day, because I've been waiting to get my new laptop long enough as it is. I would hate for Steve to announce them and say wait 2 weeks for them. One word: TORTURE.
If he doesn't announce anything on MBPs at all, then I'm not waiting any further than Macworld, and if he does, I suppose I'll wait till when that's actually released, again, hoping its another immediate release.

Is TinkerTool even made for this?
If you meant this (http://www.macworld.com/article/42469/2005/01/2waystreet.html) trick, then there is no need for TinkerTool, as you can enable "show hidden files" via Terminal, but that would only work with an iPod usable as disk drive, and the iPod touch does not have that feature, thus exPod (linked above) is enough.

New World Macs (1999 onward) and Intel-based Macs
The beep codes were revised in October 1999,[2] and have been the same since. In addition, on some models, the power LED would flash in cadence.

If he got a simple adapter it'd be possible. Though, I don't think they make just simple Composite-HDMI or whatever the iMac uses like they do VGA-DVI. If he got a converter box ($100-$300) it's possible.
OP, why would you want to run a Genesis on the iMac? Do that retro goodness some justice and buy a CRT . Seriously, good quality ones are 15 bucks on Craigslist. Computer monitors are even given out now.
Adapters to do it don't really exist - we have adapters to take HDMI/DVI sources to MDP, but that's it. You'd have to get hold of a composite to HDMI upscaler, and then run it through the HDMI to MDP adapter. That's a lot of steps for it to go wrong, not work or simply look awful - and it'd also be expensive.
My advice would simply be to buy a screen for the NES.

I appologize for another thread in advance. I am having a hard time making the final choice. I would like to know owners experience with these drives after some usage. I'm looking at putting one in my late 09 13" unibody, 8GB Ram. I am about maxed out with the 250GB in there now and am an avid user of the CS5 master collection, Aperture 3, Parallels 6, Windows etc. I am also considering the Momentus XT however, I have read several complaints lately about the drive so I am leaning towards the WD Scorpio 750 so I can partition about 250GB to Windows. I would ratehr not purchase an SSD to save a few bucks however; the Intel 320 Series 300GB is tempting. Thx -Steve

i guess my main question is how to do this? how do i turn my 327w into bringe mode and then make the aebs the main modem/router and just get the data from the westell?
I think you are confused. You cannot turn the AEBS into a modem, because it is a router. A modem takes the incoming signal from your ISP and converts it into a format your computer can make sense out of. The AEBS does not have this capability, as it relies on the demodulated signal from the modem.
