Ok, thanks for the info...really appreciate it...will let him know to stay atleast 3-4 days and then leave.....by the way did u go to Ottawa for stamping or some place else in canada?
secondly can u please also tell me that if the visa officer told u after ur interview that u would need to come on friday to pick get ur visa stamp or did they jst say that they will inform u? do u remember by any chance that if the visa officer told u that u would have certain # of days to come and stamp ur visa once they inform u that ur visa is ready for stamping?

I was given a slip from the officer and told to collect the passport on Friday at the consulate at 2pm. The slip had same information as well.

Both of the following are about 500KB, so beforewarned...
I put a smaller beetle macro into the front-page gallery area, but here's a couple others.
1 Upclose and personal with a dandelion.

I am not sure this is applicable in case of Green Card too even when the dates are not current for your category.
I guess 99.99% won't able to use it, but at least it will be helpful for 0.01% people.

Renewal of passport doesn't invalidate the visas in old passport. You have to carry both the passports while traveling foreign country.
You can get correct information about passport renewal processing details by contacting near by Indian embassy. You can also check if there is same day (or faster renewal for extra fee) renewals.

2. she is already outof status. 6months of out of status puts getting a green card into jeopardy.
3. she can travel and re-enter on H4 to activate H4 status.She cant work at that point without filinganother H1 (no need to wait for april/quota etc though, since she has already been granted an H1 once). If she wants to come back with the H1 active she can get an H1 stamping, but my guess is that will be a problem as she does not have payslips.
4. file a change of status to H4, or travel out of the US and return on H4 (assuming her H4 tied to your H1 is still valid)

Read clearly, the statement is very clear. It says "If the Green Card applicant .... is the child or spouse of ...."
It means that if you-the applicant - has either of your two parents or your spouse born in a country that is less impacted (or not impacted) by the country of chargeability wait time, then you can use their country of birth to apply to your application instead of your own.
Therefore, your parents and your spouse count as the only people you can use for cross chargeability. Not your kids.

I live in Jersey City. I am planning to move to NYC. My company and job location stays the same. I have filed my I-485 (received July 23rd) with I-140pending. I don't have my I-485 receipt notice, only I-140 receipt.
1) Is it safe to change one's residence(different state) ?
2) How do I update my address for I-485 so that I get the receipt notice at the new address ? As far as I know USCIS stuff is not forwarded by USPS.

Anyway, the Proc. dates are a heap of bull shit. The NSC Proc date for I-485 says July 08 2007. We all know the dates were 'U' and noone could have filed a I-485 between July 2 - July 17th (July 2 fiasco). So how can be the oldest application that the NSC is blocked on can be dated July 08 2007 !!!
Even if they came across ineligible applications like that, wouldn't they just outright reject them and quickly move on to some other application that they can process??? Why would they consider themselves blocked on such application(s) and issue the processing date to reflect such transient status ???

Now the biggest hurdle of Apr 30, 2001 is crossed. I am sure that not many people has filed between Sep 2001 and February 2002. Also if you look into PD for China and Phillipines, the dates moved very fast after June 2001. Lot of people applied in late 2002 and early 2003. My guess would be that it will take about 3 to 4 years to clear all the backlogs of 2003. For 2004 it may be over 5 years.
