In NYC (if it's closer for you) consulate you get the renewed/New Passport back on same day. I renewed my Kids passports there got back on same day.
For myself, I renewed in SFO back in 2001 and got them back in 5-7 days.

A similiar situation happened with my friend, his green card was in his wallet and his wallet got stolen from his car. Just call USCIS and they will tell you how to apply for a replacement card. If you even want to travel outside the country before you get your replacement card, they will stamp your passport indicating that you have a green card. My friend got his passport stamped and travelled outside the country twice using that stamp. Its not a problem but as usual everything with USCIS costs a lot. So the cost for the replacement cards will be high.

My employer has not provided copy of labor or I-140.
I am not planning to use AC-21 as my employer and work profile is good. But say if there is some thing unplanned happens, and if I need to change jobs, what can I do?

Does the cover-letter you included while filing your 485 include your job duties?
thats basically what you need, to make sure your new duties/position are inline with what was decribed in the LC.

After july fiasco, uscis and dol are very very cautious, in opening up the gates and calling everyone current. (They dont want another 1-2 million applications being sent).
It is defintely not going to happen in the near future.....
So even finding a pattern may not help as its not going to be current for all for EB3 atleast.

My company is closing offices and we all will be working from home. My I140 is cleared and I am in process of extending my H1 which expires in june 09.company has no office at India.
I want to know for how long I can work from India on H1 being on US payroll?
You are not any visa status when you are not present in the USA.
As per as your working in India, you are subject to Indian labor (should I write, labour) laws and income taxes. It does not matter currency you are paid. What matter is, your physical location during the work performed for the employer.

Our current immigration problems are a great reason to unite, to strive to achieve a worthwhile goal. Sure we're facing challenges but, in my opinion, we have a lot to be grateful for. One has only to read the aforementioned CNN article to see just how tough life can be when it chooses to be. My green card problems (only mine, not yours) certainly seem trivial compared to the lifetime of pain life has visited upon those women. Read it-say a prayer for those less fortunate souls-and then resume the struggle with renewed determination.
We will prevail.

Just got a word from our attorney that my case was approved on 09/08/2010. In my case USCIS did not update the website with the approved status! Not even a soft LUD.... I don't know their operating standard!
Thanks for many of you reading my post! So now you know even with out USCIS website update there is a chance that ones case would be approved.
Lesson learnt: Always check with attorney!
Now on to the final hurdle! I-485.

If they do implement a new F4 visa, they will allow you to transfer to F4 status I believe. And then current PhDs would be getting the benefit of the new law. Its unlikely that biological science are not a part of physical sciences. What they mean when they say "Physical" sciences is that other sciences like Tom Cruise's scientology and stuff like astrology/palmistry and other fake science is not included as a field in which one could do PhD and obtain GC.

USCIS is doing this to me the second time. They did the same with my EB3 I-140 and now with my EB2 I-140! I am really upset about the way this lazy NSC is handling I-140s.
My EB2 I-140 was filed with premium processing on 9/2/2010. Today is 09/16 already and there are no hopes of my case getting touched or approved in 1 day! How do I know, because there are no LUDs since 09/03 (when the premium processing receipt issued).
Same thing happened with my EB3 case when I requested for premium processing (at NSC) they gave back the premium fee and said they cannot complete the case with in 15 days! So why are they even having this premium service to fool around....
Is there any thing that I could do about this?

I'm Harish. I've finished my masters in usa and working on H1-B. I applied for GC this year. Right now at 1-140 filing stage. I think I-140 should be approved in a few months. After that how long should I wait to apply for I-485?
I want to change my employer. I believe you can do that 180 days after u file for I-485. So can any1 give me an approx time when I should be able to file I-485.
With all this retrogression its really confusing and frustating to understand...

It seems the FP notice comes in 10 to 15 day usually. I haven't gotten mine after 3 weeks. Is there a time period after which that I have to worry about the FP?

How can a illegal obtain a paycheck without using a stolen SSN, so there is no way CIR can pass in its current state which allows for a guest worker program. This would mean that any illegal who has stolen a SSN would not be eligible for Guest Worker program - which would be over 90% of illegals.
